History

Since 27 May 1962, FC Español Karlsruhe e.V. has been part of the associative life of Karlsruhe and is an undisputed fixture in local football. It was on that very day that the club was founded by Mauro Panizo, Antonio González, Manuel Escudero, Pedro Rodrigo, Juan Barbate, Ricardo Usaola and Julián García.

In its early decades, the club was a home for many Spaniards who wished to live and preserve their Spanish culture in far-away Germany.

Today, the 3rd generation has already grown up here in Karlsruhe, showing that it is important not only to talk about integration, but to bring it to life. FC Español Karlsruhe has been making this contribution for many decades, above all through its annual «Spanish Nights» on the Pentecost weekend at the Gehörlosenzentrum in Karlsruhe.

In recent years, our club has also been able to shine on the sporting front. On several occasions we have competed for promotion to the Landesliga, and in the 2012/2013 season our club achieved the long-awaited promotion to Landesliga Mittelbaden — a remarkable result for a club of approximately 150 members.

For this unique club to continue to exist in the way described, great efforts are required — efforts whose provisional high point is the move to the new premises of the Gehörlosenzentrum Karlsruhe.
